Bone Marrow Donor Screening

Per CNN, on any given day, 6,000 people need a bone marrow transplant to help fight cancers such as leukemia or serious blood illnesses such as sickle cell anemia.  Because donors and patients must be of the same ethnic background – many patients do not receive the desperately needed healthy stem cells from a donor. All it takes is to have your cheek swabbed to find out if you are a match.

Fairway Chiropractic, owned by Granite Bay residents Dr. Paul Diemer and his wife Stacey, is raising awareness for this worthy cause on May 7th.  Get a free chiropractic exam, adjustment, chair massages and even enjoy snacks while you wait to have your cheek swabbed.

Saeng’s Strawberry Stand

Our family loves Saeng’s strawberry stand!  It feels as though summer is around the corner when their stand opens up at the corner of Douglas and Barton every year.  Saeng’s strawberries are grown on Otow Orchard’s land and are so fresh and delicious.  No wonder they’ve been around for 14 years.  Love their jam too!

        

       

Sushiology 1A at Mikuni

One of my favorite restaurants, Mikuni, held a Sushiology 1A class last night.  My husband, Kevin and our friend and neighbor, Sean McMenamin learned how to make sushi rice, California Rolls, Spicy Tuna Hand Rolls, and Fair Oaks Rolls – and they sampled some beer along the way.  Kevin brought home some of his creation for me to try – yum.  When did you guys say you are taking the Susiology 1B class??

Kelly McMenamin snuck into the class and took these photos - don’t they make the sushi look good?  Hmm….I’m craving a Tommy Roll, or maybe a Trainwreck right now.  Thank you, Kelly!  You are a wonderful photographer and an even better friend.
